Uganda’s infant mortality rate stands at 62 deaths per 1000 live births as of 2011. This coupled with the fact that 56% of children are born unwanted or when the parents have not planned for them and the biting poverty level makes many children suffer neglect, malnutrition and essentially either have stunted growth or die.
ARM Early Childhood Development Program (ECDP) picks these children who are neglected and malnourished from the slums around Kampala and provides them with feeding, medical care, growth monitoring, parenting courses for their mothers, and an example of God’s love for them.
Since the program started in 2001, 700 children (aged 0-2 years) have been rescued for this life-threatening situation. Currently we have 150 children in three locations of Gaba, Lusaze and Kawempe.
ARM offers a monthly sponsorship of these children at just $60 a month. Imagine the difference you can make in these children’s lives by providing them with:
- Health screening
- Medical care
- Play material
- Growth monitoring
- Training of their Mothers to love and care for them
