Katamba gets a reason to smile!
Katamba Bright is 10 years old. He is the 1st born of two children and has a younger sister named Catherine who is just 4 years old. Katamba was born with club foot. A disability that has posed many challenges to him and his family throughout his short life.
Katamba’s disability was so severe that it significantly limited his movement. Whenever he tried to walk long distances his feet would swell and develop sores. This restricted the schools and church he was able to go to, and getting a quality education was something he never dreamed of. He watched as his friends would get new shoes while he himself could not wear any. He also watched his friends enjoy football and he was forced to sit on the sidelines and just cheer them on.
His disability came with alot of teasing, causing Katamba a great deal of emotional pain. He struggled to understand how God had created him in his own image when his image looked so much different that the other people around him.
But in 2012, God did an amazing work, and Katamba was granted special funding through ARM to undergo treatment to repair his feet. It has been almost a year long process of slowly turning his feet through casting his feet at different angles, but today Katamba is a happy boy. He is able to play with other children and his self worth has been restored. Without help from ARM and their donors, Katamba would not have been restored. Thanks be to God and all those He has used to bring this transformation into Katamba’s life!
