From Grass to Grace

1 Sam 2:8a ESV—“He raises up the poor from the dust; he lifts the needy from the ash heap to make them sit with princes and inherit a seat of honor.”

We greet you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Please receive our love, thanks and gratitude from Kasaka Child Development Program.

We wish to thank God for the blessings in Kasaka, which we have witnessed with our very own eyes.

The Original Family Home

The Original Family Home

There is a family in our community that we work with. Their two children are registered with our program. This family was known to be the poorest family in our community. It is rumored that they were so poor that even the rats in their house made fun of them. They lived in a grass thatched, mud and wattle house that collapsed, forcing the parents and two children to live in a very small makeshift hut.

The hut leaked often, forcing the kids to leave the hut and sleep under the cover of a nearby banana plantation when it rained.  The family was in desperate need of help.  As soon as the full extent of their situation was known to the project director of Kasaka, he decided to take pictures of the family’s living condition and talk with friends and donors to see what he could do to help the family.

The  hut that housed the family

We began to see God work immediately in the life of this family as He rallied people together to help. Africa Renewal Ministries helped to provide food and beddings and Celebrate Hope Ministries, along with our friends in Holland (UCCF), sent money for the construction of a permanent, well furnished, family home.

We thank God for the people he has brought to help save the lives of this family! And we thank God because he intercedes on our behalf.  He is a God of action, and He can and does change lives!

There was joy and cerebration when the family entered their new house. The poorest family in the community is now the richest with the best house and a great testimony of what God has done. It is indeed a miracle!

Special thanks go to ARM, Reina Schenkel, Uganda Child Care Foundation (UCCF), Cerebrate Hope Ministries and all the staff at Kasaka CDP who helped make this possible!

God bless you all.

A New Look for Loving Hearts

Loving Hearts has a new logo!! We are excited about it because it really shows our heart behind what we do.  The new logo features many different components of who we are…can you find them:

1. Babies – Can you find the baby feet? We love Babies and at any given time we have 15-20 babies in our home.  Without babies, we would cease to do what we do here at Loving Hearts.

2. Families – Can you find the family – Made up of two parents and many children? Families are close to our heart and the best way for children to grow. We want all of our babies to find a loving and safe family to call their very own.

3. Jesus – Do you see the cross? Jesus loves children, and he aims at redeeming all of us through his sacrifice on the cross. That is why we have a red cross – showing the redemption that is found through him for all the babies/families that we work with.

4. Love – This is represented by the two hearts – showing not only the love of God for us, but also the love of parents for their children – That is why we have a larger heart and a smaller heart.

Leadership Resources

At ARM we are all about leadership. We love Christian leaders and our desire is to train up even more. We believe that the only way to find last change is through the transformational leadership of every day people who want to make a lasting impact in their families, in their churches, in their communities, in their countries and in the world as a whole.

As we train up leaders we often look for solid biblical materials that will help people become better leaders.  We are no way apart of their production or their sales, we just wanted to share a resource that we found with others because we know that good resources are a great start down your own path of leadership.

We believe that the Bible is the foundation and guide for all things in life.  So to find Bibles that have a leadership them running through them are exciting to us.  We encourage you to check them out for yourselves as you learn to lead others.

Pastor Peter has a BLOG!

Did you know that Pastor Peter Kasirivu (our founder and CEO here at Africa Renewal ministries) has a leadership blog? It is called PK Leadership and on it he shares leadership articles, tips, sermons, book reviews and much more.

Check it out at:

Leaders are Readers

We believe that leaders need to be readers.  It is from the knowledge we find in good books that help keep leaders on the top of their game.  Leaders often try out new strategies from the books they read, or learn from the experience of other leaders through their stories and wisdom.  It is within the pages of books that you can find practical tools of success and advice for everyday life.

At ARM, we encourage our children to be readers.  There used to a saying in Uganda that said, “if you want to hide something from an African, write it down in book.” We want to change that trend, and we are changing it by helping make more and more resources available to our children and staff.

One resource that we love is David C. Cook Ebooks.  This company is a Christian book publisher that generously gives away a free ebook each and every week.  We love this resource so much, that we wanted to share it with all of you as well. Simply click here, to sign up for your free books now!
